Did Hornady dicontinue the 7mm 120 gr. SSPB #22811? Also did Sierra discontinue the 7mm 130 gr. Spitzer Single Shot Pistol #7250? Would these bullets be too frangible to use in a 15 inch Encore 7-08 at about 2400 fps for 150# or less Whitetail, or would I be better off to use regular style(soft point/spitzer etc....) 120 or 140 gr bullet on them? Neither are discontinued. http://www.cliffsgunsmithing.com/Catalog_Horn_284.htm http://www.cliffsgunsmithing.com/Catalog_Sierra_277-284.htm Try them out and see how they shoot. They are designed for the 7 TCU, but you never know till you try. -Spencer

Steve E., Either of those bullets should perform well in a 7-08 at 2400 fps. I came across a 7-30 Waters a few years ago so had to do the same research then that you're doing now. I ended up settling on the 130 gr. Sierra SSP bullet. Unfortunately, I've yet to shoot it at a deer. Here's a thread from the Single Shot Pistols Forum that has some good info: https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tp.../r/23610629#23610629 The issue of what's been discontinued and what's still available is more confusing to me. This topic has come up more than once on the SSP Forum. It's my recollection that the Hornady SSP has been discontinued and that Hornady made recs to instead use the 120 gr 7 mm V-Max; the Hornday website (http://www.hornady.com) does not list the 7 mm SSP bullet, nor product # 22811. (http://www.sierra bulelts.com) Here's an old thread: https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tp.../r/58610149#58610149 Here's some more details about the Hornady SSP/V-max relationship: https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tp.../r/71210959#71210959 I thought I had read that Sierra had also discontinued their 7 mm SSP bullet, but I guess not as they DO list product # 7250 on their website (http://www.sierra bulelts.com). I hope you find this info useful instead of confusing. Gary T. Good luck and good hunting.
