I like Sierra and am a regular user of their regular SMK. I trust their tipped SMK will be up to the task but I do not plan the switch as I've long given up S-A rifles . André DRSS --------- 3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact. 5 shots are a group.

I'm wondering if they'll discover that the tips are melting in midair like Hornady did? One of the defense contractor is using our club's range to track bullets thermally. Just due to air friction, they can track bullets as small as 22 caliber from a kilometer away, at angles of 90 degrees to the line of flight. Returning to this thread; just started shooting Sierra 155gr TMKs over Varget in a 308 Win. Seated to the OAL from the Sierra manual 2.800”. While the chrono data looks very consistent, the accuracy is poor compared to the Berger flat base and Hornady A-Maxes I have used in it. The rifle has a Bartlein barrel with a not very long freebore. Just wondered if anyone else found TMKs to be seating depth sensitive. sputster

Looking at that particular bullet it isn't surprising. Im guessing it is a secant ogive but their website doesnt say. It has a very short bearing surface and a rather sharp intersection. Im tired of farting around with secant ogives myself. Tangent is just better for a simple guy like me. AK-47 The only Communist Idea that Liberals don't like.
