I load for rifle and pistol and have for a few decades now and you know how stuff accumulates. I was cleaning out the reloading room and wondered just how many different powders I had on hand. Turned out to be 44. How does that compare with you other guys with this strange reloading disease?

I'm a newbie at reloading, having been doing it for only 42 years and have only 23 different powders. Steve......... Just went and checked and I actually have 36 different cans of powder. NRA Patron Life Member GOA Life Member North American Hunting Club Life Member USAF Veteran

Wow, I would have to spend to much time counting! Some came from a dead friends widow. Stuff that was dropped years ago. Alcan 8 and win 630P and such.

Been reloading since early 70’s and have accumulated quite a few powders, would guess close to 40, which includes a quart size coffe can of pulled down Turk 8mm powder (properly labeled with sample load). I’ll never use them up in my life time. My son probably won’t either. Shoot Safe, Mike NRA Endowment Member

off the top of my head like 30. not counting the 4 oz's of this and that I still haven't burned up yet even after trying to get rid of it all back in the obozo regime.

Well, Branded powders we have around 60. Recovered powders we have a few types. Some are recovered from shotgun shells. Some are recovered from old cartridges. Some are recovered from ammo that became wet and the primers corroded. Some are recovered from naval flares. We don't let any powder go to waste. There is a use for everything.

Only 20. Would be fewer except past powder shortages forced me to find replacements and develop new loads. Having learnt the hard way if I find a useful powder now I buy a larger quantity that keeps me going for a while. Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

You got me thinking... painful, I know. Interestingly enough, I was sorting through the powder cabinet just last night and thought "what the heck?". I have lots that I don't currently use but someone local to me might need. I'm going to sell some powder(s) at good deals to make room more than make money. Zeke

Roughly 35. I buy H-4895, LT-32 and Varget in 8lb. bottles. Everything else is in 1 lb. bottles.

After 50 plus years of stuffing cases for rifle, shotgun and pistol I've got it down to about 10 or so powders. Have tried a lot of different powders but have settled on the very best ones for each group. At today's price point consolidation can save a guy money!

Only been reloading for 42 years, I only reload rifle now. While I might have 8 on hand...I only use 3. The remaining five just collect dust. Mike Legistine actu quod scripsi? Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue. What I have learned on AR, since 2001: 1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken. 2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps. 3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges. 4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down. 5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine. 6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle. 7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions. 8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA. 9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not. 10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact. 11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores. 12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence. 13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

5, if I could find H1000 all the time I would only need 4. I don't reload scattergun so only rifle and handgun. Newbie only 40 years of hand stuffing!

I've been loading since the early 70s + have accumulated beaucoup of powders over the years but I would have to say that if I could ONLY have 1 each rile + pistol powders, it would be IMR 4350 + 2400 respectively. Never mistake motion for action.

trying to wean myself down to just h335 and 2400 -- the obama year's made me focus, and those two work well. (but there's THREE that are "h335" - including tac and WC844, that I haven't shot up yet) opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I put together my first reload in 1964. Over the years I've accumulated a lot of different powders. Most of the 52 different powders I counted in my magazine are in small quantities and I haven't used many of them in decades. I did count up about 15 powders that I currently use. I could probably load adequately for every rifle, shotgun, and handgun I own with only these powders and not feel particularly limited: IMR7828SSC RL-17 CFE223 H335 AA1680 Unique The first five are for rifles, obviously. Unique works for EVERYTHING I want to do with a shotgun or handgun. I guess that's why they call it Unique.
