Praise for Wal-Mart/WM store manager in Cortez, CO.
I was in Cortez, Co. two weeks ago while on vacation. When I went back to the sporting goods section, I almost fell over when I saw reloading supplies and reloading equipment. It wasn't the largest selection BUT they did have the basics and a reasonable selection of gun/pistol powders, CCI primers, Sierra and Hornady bullets and WW brass for the main go-to rifle and pistol calibers. They had RCBS reloading equipment and tools all at reasonable prices. tu2
And they still had rifles and shotguns in a case, all for purchase. clap
I wish the Wal-Mart store managers in my area would wake up and carry these items.
I believe I am going to talk to the managers in my area the next chance I get.

There's about 50 walmarts in my area, some carry rimfire ammo, that's pretty much it. You are lucky

Ours has rifles and other gear. I think they are shy on the reloading gear though but I haven't been there in awhile.

I was suprised that walmart, and K-mart were the top two in this 'cuontry'.

interesting.. there's a study that says if the first and last letter are correct, most people with an IQ over 100 or reading comprehension above 3rd grade can reasonabley figure it out.

Now, I am not saying YOU don't meet these guidelines, as they did say MOST people... not ALL people...

Several years ago, I saw reloading supplies in another WM in Colorado. Alamosa, IIRC.

Bought my first RCBS Master Reloading Kit from the Wally World in Fountain CO. Now I live closer to Sportsmans Warehouse to get all my supplies. IIRC the WW carried Sierra and Nosler bullets, CCI primers, and Hogdon and IMR powders mainly. Last time I was in there they had a limited supply of stuff, but that was during the shortage days.

The Wal-Marts in our area stopped carrying long guns several years ago. I think you can still order them, however.

I just read a clipping in the July issue of American Hunter that "Wal-Mart is quietly bringing guns and ammo back to hundreds of it's stores in a effort to bring back male shoppers".

I was so impressed with the selection of reloading supplies at the Walmart in Cody, Wyoming that I actually took a picture with my phone so my buddies would believe me:

Yup! Just as I remember the one in Cortez, except there was IMR 4831 in the empty spot on the shelf to the right.

My local Walmart in Falcon Colorado didn't have guns when they opened just ammo so I asked the sporting goods manager "when are you stocking rifles and shotguns"? he looked at me as if I were from another planet and said "Walmart is phasing out firearms they are too controversial".
This store now stocks guns.
I asked them about reloading supplies recently and the new sporting goods guy said
"Nope we will never have reloading supplies there is too much liability".
I can't wait till the reloading supplies show up now.

Our local Walmarts carry:

a) some reloading supplies
b) rifle, pistol, shotgun and rimfire ammunition
c) a few basic rifles and shotguns.
d) beer, wine and liquor! Big Grin

Works for me.

(except that I haven't seen primers in a long time...)

There was a Best Products store here long ago.
They quit handling any sort of guy type sporting goods. I quit going in there and they soon shut down.

I never went in the local Wal-Mart much but when I did it was for sporting goods. They quit handling guns and I quit going in Wal-Marts.

I was in the Burley, ID Walmart about 2 weeks ago and they had reloading equipment. I couldn't believe it!

I think each store has some determination of what they will and won't carry. Basically it's what they think will sell.

That is correct. That is why I said;
"Praise for Wal-Mart/WM store manager in ....."

My wife and I enjoy going into WallyWorld stores in different parts of the country. We find things that are not in our local stores i.e. reloading supplies.
