Neck lubing question

Hello,

My question is, if you have tumbled your brass for cleaning and then use Hornady One Shot, do you have to use graphite or some other dry lube or does enough of the One Shot make it on the inside of the necks to facilitate sizing? I had previously cleaning the brass individually with steel wool and then using a brush to clean the neck and apply some graphite at the same time.

I normally only lube the cases for resizing and then clean the lube off. I don’t care if it’s a greasy lube or graphite, clean it off.

So far the one shot seems to work for me. I usually take and spray in angled toward the case while in the loading block. I work up one direction on one side the go in the other direction on the other side.
After sizing I throw the cases in corn cob for an hour or so to get all the lube of and dried.

I recommend spraying One Shot directly on the sizing button. I don't think enough One Shot gets in the neck during the case lube process.

Or, switch to a carbide sizing button and a Titanium Nitride neck bushing.

Another simple technique is to take the cap from a bottled water (or soda), and put some RCBS lube into it.

Then, before neck sizing a case, dip the case mouth into the lube and then size.
You only need about 1 or 2 millimeters of lube on the case mouth, which is not enough to contaminate the powder if you've already primed your brass.

You can wipe the loaded cartridges off (after bullet seating) if you want to.
