I'm starting to work up loads for my .458 Win Mag with a brown bear hunt in mind. The Northfork 400 gr.SS looks like an ideal bullet, but I haven't run across any loading data...would appreciate some input from anyone who has tried this combo. My rifle is a Win Mod 70 with a 22" barrel. Thanks.

I would take a reloading book look at the several loads for 400 gr bullets.

Find a combo that is close to same for a couple of different bullets start with the low end of that and work up.

If they have data, they will give it to you.

Start with 72gr of 4895, you could probably go a bit higher, I use 70gr with the 450's. I grew up in Grafton and came here in 76.

Northfork has really good load data.

I use their 450 gr SS. I use 72 gr of A2230 and OAL 3.340"

They recommend A2230 for the 458 Win Mag. My OAL is a longer than their recommendation.

I get 2,220 with the 450 gr.

I'd start at 72 gr with the 400gr and work up.
