PhilR.458 Win Mag w/ 400 gr Northfork
I'm starting to work up loads for my .458 Win Mag with a brown bear hunt in mind. The Northfork 400 gr.SS looks like an ideal bullet, but I haven't run across any loading data...would appreciate some input from anyone who has tried this combo. My rifle is a Win Mod 70 with a 22" barrel. Thanks.

p dog shooterI would take a reloading book look at the several loads for 400 gr bullets.
Find a combo that is close to same for a couple of different bullets start with the low end of that and work up.

waterratStart with 72gr of 4895, you could probably go a bit higher, I use 70gr with the 450's. I grew up in Grafton and came here in 76.

Austin HunterNorthfork has really good load data.
I use their 450 gr SS. I use 72 gr of A2230 and OAL 3.340"
They recommend A2230 for the 458 Win Mag. My OAL is a longer than their recommendation.
I get 2,220 with the 450 gr.
I'd start at 72 gr with the 400gr and work up.
