Many of the cartridges in Edition V of Sierra Bullet's Reloading Manual were tested in a Savage rifle including the 22 BR, 22 PPC, 22/250 Ackley, 6mm Ackley, 25/06 Ackley, 7mm BR, 7mm STW, 300 RUM, 375 RUM, etc. They apparently use Savage actions and change out different barrels for their bullet testing. Their test barrels are a mix of Savage factory and custom benchrest grade barrels -- all using the Savage barrel nut. I wonder how they mount the strain gages to them? Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. He looks like you owe him money." - Robert Ruark, Horn of the Hunter, 1953 NRA Life, SAF Life, CRPA Life, DRSS lite | |||

gages cam be mounted CIP style in front of the case mouth on short cartridge lenght chamberings. The longer cartridges will take the gage at the center of the chamber for SAAMI std`s same as any rifle. Both methods work and are accepted standards. ------------------------------------ The trouble with the Internet is that it's replacing masturbation as a leisure activity. ~Patrick Murray "Why shouldn`t truth be stranger then fiction?
