OK I've composed my self, I think I can actually answer this one now.
Corn is better for a high luster finish, that is, if you really want your brass to shine. Where as walnut is a better cleaner, it's a little more abrasive and leaves the finish if the brass a little duller looking.
Wow I did it no jokes about little bitts of walnut shells getting lodged in uncomfortable places vs corncobs being used for personal hygiene and for passing the time of day.

Hey Abe Normal, here's another chance. Do you tumble your brass, or vibrate it? Really just curious whether a drum tumbler is better or worse than a vibratory tumbler. RCBS has what I believe they call a Sidewinder Drum Tumbler where you can use liquid or dry media, there twice as much though.

I don' use walnut because sometimes I leave the brass in the media until the next weekend and the acid from the walnut shells discolors the brass. Wayne
