Was wondering if corn was better for cleaning, or walnut. I use corn media to clean my brass, just wondering if i should try
walnut. ANY THOUGHTS!

<Abe Normal>Ooh man, I'm really having to resist sending the smart @$$ response to your question!
Potty humor can be addictive thing!
OK I've composed my self, I think I can actually answer this one now.
Corn is better for a high luster finish, that is, if you really want your brass to shine. Where as walnut is a better cleaner, it's a little more abrasive and leaves the finish if the brass a little duller looking.
Wow I did it no jokes about little bitts of walnut shells getting lodged in uncomfortable places vs corncobs being used for personal hygiene and for passing the time of day.
Oh damn it!

GreyghostHey Abe Normal, here's another chance. Do you tumble your brass, or vibrate it? Really just curious whether a drum tumbler is better or worse than a vibratory tumbler. RCBS has what I believe they call a Sidewinder Drum Tumbler where you can use liquid or dry media, there twice as much though.

<Daryl Elder>Len, automatic dishwashing detergent in a watertight tumbler is cheap and does a first class job. A rinse with vinegar shines them up some.

<Bill>I use corn bur it seems to get stuck in primer pockets more then the walnut.

WayneI don' use walnut because sometimes I leave the brass in the media until the next weekend and the acid from the walnut shells discolors the brass.

<Paladin>I use pecan-shell media. Works about as well as walnut, doesn't stain, doesn't stick in the flasholes quite as much.

The super small walnut media does a ginger peachy job of cleaning the brass and does not clog the primer pockets. luck hotdog

<Don Krakenberger>Put me down for walnut--hate the way corn sticks in the primer area. Acouple of drops of "flitz" in the walnut give me all the shine I can stand!!
