| Are you using the other die, designed to "bell" the mouth of the case? I also have a .41 Mag, and think it's about the coolest handgun caliber around. Wouldn't trade for anything.

| Hey a man who knows his magnums!! I am shooting the .41 in the Marlin rifle. No Iam not using another die that bells the mouth but will look into one. I used to load a S and W pistol with an 8 3/8 inch barrel. I shot the 200 grain hollow point with 2400 powder. From a rest a milk jug at 100 yards didn't have chance! What powder do you use? |

| The second die should be the expander/belling die. At least it was on the set I had. I like 2400 and AA#9 in my 41 |

| Yeah, some of the Lee expanders don't give enough flare. Call Lee and ask for one that does. You might also get their "Universal Expander Die" at the same time. It's only a belling die rather than the claimed expander, but it's worth having around for times like this. Look into the Lyman Universal Expander kit. It's an adapter that mounts a Lyman or RCBS powder measure on your press which comes with a variety of hollow expander balls. I'm pretty sure the .41 is one. Lets you expand, flare, and charge in one go. I shoot mostly Unique in my .41 Mag. Have little need for full magnum loads. 210 grains at 1000 fps will do anything I want done.

| a set of bonaza dies that i once owned had the bell in the fl resizer die. all you need to do was turn in the die a little more and to bell the case. Dave |

| Yeah, you do need to slightly "bell" the mouth of the case, else your bullets will "catch an edge" and crumple your case. It only takes about .002" to do the job. I have a fairly large supply of copper plated 210 grain bullets... forget the exact charge, 15.x grains #9 for trips to the range, and 19.x grains with a JHC bullet for hunting/home protection. With a target load, that thing is an absolute joy to shoot... moderate recoil, very accurate, and a very satisfactory loud noise when I pull the trigger.

| Blob, are you using the LeeLoader? The bang-it-in with a mallet kit. That comes with a piece about 2" long with a rounded end to flare with. If it is missing, you can improvise with anything with a taper. I've used a .50 BMG bullet among other things. If you are using dies in a press, you got shorted a die. Lee .41 Mag dies have always come in three die sets. They did or do make an odd one die gadget, but they have never made two die sets.
