i am new to handguns for the most part and was wondering what exactly +P means? I understand that it is a little hotter round but what stipulations come into effect with it? Auburn University BS '09, DVM '17 | ||

+P means the pressures are higher then the SAAMI std. There are a couple of cartridges SAAMI has set a +P limit on, and others that are up to the manufactures idea of where they should be. i will be purchasing a new xd 45 and the only factory self defense loads i can find are +P are these safe to shoot? Auburn University BS '09, DVM '17 | |||

You may need to change out the recoil spring to match the cartridge. | |||
