What is the best source for some 9.3X64 Brass? Looks like the usual places don't stock it.-Rob

Try Huntington's Huntingtons.com
They say they have Lapua.

Huntington's web site lists only Lapua 9.3x62. Old Western Scrounger has x64 RWS occasionally. There is another company called Buffalo something or other that makes 9.3X64 from .458 brass. They turn off the belts, turn the rim down a bit and full length size. I have some here at the house and they mike to specs. I will have my x64 back from the smith hopefully by the end of next week and will send a report on how the made up brass functions. I think Ray may sell his x64 stuff, including bullets, brass and dies, if he sells his rifle. Still up in the air. Cobalt

Old Western Scrounger gets 9.3x64 brass once a year from Germany (RWS). RWS, as I understand, makes only one short run of these cases each year - about 5-10k of them. If I remember right, July/August is usually the time they arrive here in the States.

Just ask OWS when they're expecting the next shipment. Have them put your name on some of the expected shipment.

I've never made cases from the belted mag cases - sounds like too much trouble to me. The RWS cases are of very good quality and worth the wait.

You might try "Frankonia Jagd." in Germany - a high end retailer of sporting goods. I don't have their contact info, but a net search should yield something and usually on or two guys in their gun rooms can speak decent English - might be worth the troble of a longdistance call...

Forgot to add that when I was in Germany and got some 9.3x64 brass, Frankonia didn't have it either. The guy I spoke with said, "wait." So I did. Apparently, he made a few phone calls. When he came back, he asked how much I wanted!

Hi,

normaly those cases are easy to get in Germany.
Try www.johannsen-jagd.de!
What I have recognized is that there might be
rifles where the bolt cant be closed with reloaded ammo and full sized cases:-(
Maybe the reason is the RCBS die(I dont think
so),but IMO its the inferior quality of the expensive brass.

You won't have much luck this side of the pond. Have any German buddies? I got 5 boxes of virgin RWS 9.3x64 without much trouble-- as long as you sprechen ze Deutsche. Pops up at shows sometimes but it usually the old DWM stuff.

Buffalo Arms has some in stock that they make from mag brass. Here's the link:

I'm not connected to BuffArms, but I do like them because they supply lots of oddball shooting stuff.

I have made 9.3x64 brass from 458 Win or 338 win brass. I used Win headstamped cases and the resulting cases were the same capacity and handled the same loads as the Factory RWS cases. It is not that hard. In a small lathe cut the belt off . Recut the extractor groove and use your shell holder as a go guage. FL size the case, load and fire. The fireformed cases are perfect. sure a lot better than waiting a year or more for factory brass. I had a hundred cases made in a couple hours
