Have any of you guys got a 550b set up on 556? Thinkin about one for Christmas for my son. Do I need nything that doesnt come with the loader? Got some rcbs 223 dies will they work? I have a 650 set up on 45 acp, love it. Thought about another Dillon.

It should work fine with the RCBS dies. You will also need a toolhead, shell plate & pins, powder die (unless you will load powder seperately), and powder measure. You can call Dillon and they will tell you everything you need in case I missed something.

Yes I do. I always do 223 or 556 through the 550B in two steps. The first deprime and resize. Then I swage or cut out the crimp then trim the case. Then back in the machine for prime, powder, bullet and crimp. If you use RCBS dies I would recommend a separate crimp die for the last station.

please consider the hornady lnl AP for the same setup . it is comparable to the dillion 650, for the price of the 550

Both brands are top notch, but with the Dillon, you have a lifetime warranty. Whether you bought it new or used.

I have two 550B's, one set up for large primer cases, and one for small. Right now the small is set up to load 300 BLK, but it loads a lot of 223 just by switching the tool head.

It's pretty easy to load 400 rounds in an hour, including tubing 400 primers.
