Hi,

Have any one used the Woodleigh Protected Point in 7mm?
140 or 160grs?

How will the 140grs. bullets work i a .280Rem in a speed around 2900fps?

I have just tried out some 160-grain Woodleighs in both my 280 and my 7x57.

In the 280 they shot MOA with RL-22, and produced the best groups among the bullets I was testing: Woodleighs, Failsafes, and Partitions.

I was disappointed with their performance in my 7x57, where they produced about 2MOA with VihtaVouri 160N.

My best group with the 7x57 was with 175-grain Hornady RNs, pushed by VihtaVouri 160N. They went one-half (.5) MOA! 175-grain Partitions also shot well, about MOA. Speer Grand Slams, one of my favorite bullets, grouped like a shotgun pattern--very disappointing.

I did not chronograph any of the loads this time out, but will do so next time.

Hope this helps.

Jonas,

You should be getting about 3000 - 3050 with a 140gr. These bullet work fine on deer sized game.

Cheers

Pete
