Guys, I am confused. Hornady lists all kinds of Superformance ammunition but now that the Superformance powder is available from Hodgdon, there is very little load data. For example, Hornady has Supreformance ammo for the .257 Roberts and the .338 RCM, but Hodgdon does does not show any such Supreformance loads and neither does the newest Hornady Manuel. What gives? The Superformance powder available to handloaders is not the same as used in the Superformance loaded ammo. The Superformance ammo uses custom blended powders specific to the cartridge being loaded.

The Superformance ammo replaced their Light Magnum line, which was the old "extra" power stuff with specially engineered powder blends. The specific Superformance powder is different stuff. LWD

Funny. That is not what is published as the SP powder is stated to be a release of the same. Here is a decent source http://www.midwayusa.com/produ...nce-smokeless-powder
Everyone used to whine that they didn't have access to this powder. Now you do Light magnum is NOT the same load as super performance. Apparently the one released to reloaders is what they use for the few specific cartridges listed, but Hornady makes Superformance loadings of many, many cartridges which use different blends. Clearly, the powder which gives 100 fps + velocities in a 300 Savage with 150 gr bullet cannot be the same as one which gives top velocities in a 7 mm magnum with 162 gr bullet.
