I have a bunch of 405 grain 45/70 bullets that I'd like to shoot rather than the good stuff. Has anyone used the military surplus .50 BMG or 20mm dropped powder in the .458 Lott or Win Mag? At $40/8lbs it is rather attractive. But if it's not worth the trouble/danger, forget it. Thanks

QL puts a 110% compressed load behind a 405 gr down in the 24,000psi range. Not my cup of tea. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Like ramrod said....It would be about like shooting a muzzle loader. For surplus powder in the Lott I'd look at WC846.

Yup wc872 20 mm powder is kinda slow for the Lott. I have used wc846 in my lott and worked well Jason

Times are tough all over. If I can save some on loading these bottomless cases, I will. Thanks for the help
