After a while on the fence I finally got a progressive. After much back and forth I did decide to go with Hornady LNL. Have it mounted and set up. Instructions were horrid!

Machine itself is very impressive. Just started with some 223 and have to say the powder throw is the biggest reason I went Hornady over Dillon 650. Granted I'm throwing AA230, but the throws are just about dead.

Very happy with it so far. Well constructed and no cosmetic issues either.

I do go thru a little guilt and have to confess I will never get rid of my single stage! But for pistol, 223 AR, 6.8SPC AR, 308AR&M1A, 500 S&W, this thing will save me a ton of time.

You'll still need a single stage. Working up loads, testing new components, using a collet puller. These things happen.

It's why Dillon offers a videotape with their unit at an extra $10......well worth it!

A good choice, the 550B or 650 are also great machines. I think the case feeder on the LNL sucks compared to the Dillon, but I do like the LNL press design. I run a 550B & a 650, but have played on a friends LNL quite a bit.

Would the Dillon $10 videotape (didn't realize they still made those) work for the LNL? BOOM

Many years ago I had a 550 and it was a great machine. I went back and forth between the 650 and the LNL. Powder measure for Dillon was a drawback for me and LNL powder measure was a plus. LNL it is! IMHO they are close enough performance wise I don't think you could go wrong with the LNL or the 650.

They're both excellent machines. I personally like the LnL for myself. I did adapt a Dillion powder check to my press. It's been a great addition. I swapped out the ball on the handle for an 8 ball pool ball. It's a lot smoother and easier on the hand when cranking out my pistol rounds. To free up a station, I also use their powder through expanded bushings. In order to get the most out of it though, the powder through expander stop is almost a necessity... good thing it's cheap. Yeah, the instructions to the press suck but Hornady's customer support is excellent. Like others mentioned, hang onto your single stage press and have fun using that bad boy!
