I have no experience with the new Interbond design, but I have used the 165 BTSP from Hornady on numerous deer in the midwest. I have had nothing but good luck with them. They shoot like missles and performance on deer sized game is awesome. Wound channels are impressive without being to destructive on the meat. Good luck.

This is a good bullet , but if it were me I would go to a 180gr. Horn. but not a boat tail. My first choice would be a 180gr. Nosler partion. It will hold up to the velocity you see with the .300 mag. at whatever range you shoot your elk. Very few elk are shot at over 300yds. (except with typewriters). You will be able to take almost any angle shot presented. Whats the cost of a premium bullet compared to the cost of your hunt (or the cost of a wounded animal). Hyper-velocity works on coyotes and smaller varmint not elk. You need something that makes them leak on both sides. Penetration is the name of the game. ![[Wink]](images/icons/wink.gif)

I agree with Ma Bell on the penetration issue. I also agree on the choice of a 180 partition for your elk. On the subject of hyper-velocity, speed is good for a flat trajectory, but, like Bell said, your elk isn't going to be able to tell the difference between 28/2900 and 3100 fps. You want your bullet to expand and keep on trucking, not fragment upon impact. Good Hunting.

Best bullet you will have used on an elk, expecially on an animal of that size with the 165gr Hornady interbond. Shoot them in my 300 wby-165, av 3390 fps and the 139 interbond in 7stw av 3530 fps. ![[Wink]](images/icons/wink.gif)
