I recently got my Ruger 77/44 back from IT&D Custom Gun, it returned chambered in 357 x 44 Bain & Davis. After a little reloading it seems to like 170 gr. Speer Gold Dot Soft Points and 2400 powder. They stopped making that bullet and will be putting them out later this month as the Deep Curl Soft Point bullet.

I was so excited to get it in that I didn't even take my Chrony with me. I will the next time. Just guessing I'm thinking somewhere around 1850 fps. but that is just guessing.

I guess the 170 gr must be going a little faster than I was thinking. My barrel is 20 inches long. Out of my 94 Marlin the 125 gr JHP bullets are running about 2347 fps, I would love to connect with a coyote with those.

I shot some 125s out of my max at around 2400 they just blow up at that speed.

Great for smaller varmints sure make a mess of rabbits in the garden.

The ones I used held together at least to the 100 yd target. Accuracy was fairly decent with them, I don't remember the brand.
