Anybody have any experience using the Hornady 142 gr ELD Match in their Swede? I have a HOWA 1500 Swede and would like to work up some loads using this bullet.
Thanks,
Duane

I have no experience with that bullet, my swede likes 140 and 142 Sierra Matchkings which are similar to your bullet.
My load is 43 to 44 grains of IMR 4350 seated at 3.03" overall. I use WW or CCI primers and Speer brass. Very accurate.
Good luck with yours.

I have not tried the ELD bullets. I do however, load 140g Accubonds with Reloder 23 (Rel-23 is a close cousin to Rel-22 only with better temperature insensitivity and copper fouling eliminators). My Sako 85 likes 45-46g of Rel-23, but that is near maximum in the Nosler table so I would start much lower and work your way up.

(Editorial note: my preliminary testing with Reloder 23 and some of the Hodgdon Enduron powders indicate that the CFE characteristic is not hype - it really works. I am seeing significantly reduced copper fouling. I have not tested the temperature insensitivity, but these new powders seem to be a good step in the right direction)

You have a modern rifle that will handle 62000 psi or 54000 CUP pressure for this cartridge.

So you have the option to use modern powders and get performance similar to a 7mm08 with 140 gr bullets.

My Sako & Winchester Mod 70 rifles in 6.5X55 did well with powders like H4350, VV N160, Re 19 and IMR 4831.

It was easy to get very accurate loads up to 2700 fps and top velocity pushing 2800 fps was possible.

I settled on medium power loads around 2700+ fps for 5 shots in less than 1 inch at 100 meters.

Since you bullet is not familiar to me, I will not give you exact powder charge but you should be able to get my kind of results quite easily.

NOTE: Many reloading manuals will have similar velocity with lower powder charge in M96 rifles. But look carefully and you see that the rifles have 29 inch barrels!

I haven't tried the ELD Match bullet. I have tried the 142 ABLR w/ a dose of IMR4350 and got this result - 4 shot group @ 100 yards.
