This one kinda goes along with the "Do you scavenge Brass from the Range?" poll.

I have a list, in my head, of guns I want to own someday. Coincidentally, I also pick up brass for them when available. Does anyone else do this? I think only a fellow gun nut would understand. wave

You not a real gun nut until you buy a gun to
use brass you have picked up.

I have brass, dies, and bullets for a .500 Jeffery I don't own yet. My logic... I have no choice now, I have to buy the rifle. A few more months...

Yup...sure do.
I even pick up brass for calibers I don't ever expect to own when it's lying around...just in case someone I know wants to have it.

My accumulations are from my phases. I just came on a box from my 35 phase, 350 mag,358,356, and empty bags for 35 remington. Guess I sold them or loaned them out? Same thing on shotshells. Anybody need a pile of Remington 57* cases or primers? I'm sure if I look, there are more.
I have a tendency to load up on brass when I buy a rifle and then not sell them when the rifle goes. Think I need to put an ad in the classified.
Never thought of the excuse of needing a rifle to use up brass. Sounds like good frugal advice.

Oh yeah!! Every time I go to the range, I pick up all the reloadable brass I can.

It's not a matter of IF I get those calibers...it's WHEN so it's just prepping for the future.

I have maybe 300 .40S&W cases in brass and nickel (mixed maker) that I am going to give away here in a bit for the cost of its shipping and my stamp. If you need .40S&W, keep a sharp eye because it will go to one of the first twelve who can most closely guess a number between zero and seventy-five. NO PM requests will be considered...

I bought two hundred rounds of .222 Magnum brass waaay back when Herter's was closing it out for $2 per hundred (the $4 plus shipping was about all I could afford!) That brass is still serving me well in a .222 Magnum Sako which I picked about up 15 years later (which was about 20 years ago!)

I used to pick it up and clean it. When I had enough I took it to the gunshow and traded for cast lead bullets to a bulk reloader. I had two cans of 9mm brass before I got my first 9mm. I bought my SIG thinking i'd never get another 9mm, now I have three. I have some brass now but not enough to do anything with, 33-30 and such.

Boy, and i was thinking i was a little off the wagon, but i'm seeing i am normal in here. I have about 500 empty cases and about 200 live rounds of 338 win mag and have never owned one. I also have about the same in .222 Rem along with dies for both. They are both on the wish list though. I havn't purchased the 338 probably because i don't do alot of big game hunting and i own 2 .300 Win mag's and absolutely love em. Shoot them more than anything else but the 338 will come.

Amen on that one . . . Pick up brass for calibers I don't own. Or brass for calibers friends own.

But I'll pick up the "standard" calibers -- even when I don't have a gun "currently in stock."

I had a Beretta 9mm mag that I got when I was cleaning out Marine berthing after a cruise. I gave it to a guy I was stationed with at my next command because I didn't intend to get a Beretta. That was around 2002. In 2004 I got the Beretta. I still have a few M14/M1A magazines, I'll get the rifle one of these years.

Oh yes, I am a brass rat too. I collect all calibers so the ones I don't shoot I give to others that do. It is a sickness and I have it bad.

I have made fellow shooters pick back up new 38 spec brass they have tried to throw away and give them to me. I have thousands now.

I'm finally getting a S&W mod. 19 this week and also got a Lee Loadmaster this weekend, so I did need them after all.
