Are they any good eatin' when they're this big?

There's a very funny rabbit story I heard. It's too long a story right now. Too long for me to tell. By time I finished telling you, you'd had to have been there. You'd had to have known one of the characters involved anyway. Historic re-enactor fellow. I don't doubt some of you know who I'm talking about. I'll think on it a few more years. I guess. Maybe I'll end up with a tellable version.

Thats a very mellow old "bunner", obviously alive but not kicking, they are like crats and hold still when grabbed by the scruff!

I heard somewhere that you can starve to death eating nothing but rabbit meat - that rabbits don't have enough real nutritional value to keep a person going. Anyone know any truth to that?

Can't be true, my family would have starved to death back in the late 50's early 60's, of course we did through a coon or possum in the mix every once in a while, but ate a lot more rabbit than anything else.

It is true only in that rabbit meat does not have much if any fat, it is all protein. If one was not eating any veggies with it they would be in trouble. Most folks who had only rabbit to eat usually had some bacon or other fat but did not class it as "meat".
The only mammals that can survive on rabbit meat alone are the Bobcat, and Lynx i believe. I have noticed that house crats will refuse most fat on leftovers unless they are real hungry.

Jeez, you guys ever hear of an "F stop" on a camera?

The depth of field has been lengthened to make the rabbit appear HUGE. We have a picture of my mom with a Waleye that must be 7ft long! till you know how the photo was taken.

It's that blue coat my wife got me that makes me look fat.

Okay, I don't know the guy in the picture. He's a German rabbit farmer. AFP used this, apparently a library photograph, for a story about a huge rabbit terrorizing the countryside in England.

Looks like a were wabbit to me!!! Would like to see him explode with ballistic tip doing about 4000 fps muzzle velocity....maybe a 300 yarder...Like shooting jack rabbits when I was a kid with a 22-250 looking right at me...That way there wasn't enough left to eat.

Still hate rabbit to this day. Damn were rabbits anyway, reminds me of those fat p-dogs at the zoo.

Look at the size of the hand the guy is holding the rabbit with, by the perspeve of the guy's hand relative to the rabbit's head, it's STILL a huge rabbit.

Could be, in which case, the professional hunters they've mobilized are doomed. According to the article, the men will only be carrying air rifles. IIRR, they need holy hand grenades for this monster.

The sad thing is that in the story about the rabbit in England, they hired sharpshooters w/ PELLET RIFLES to hunt the big rabbit. Why? Maybe because nobody had a f**king firearm? In the country that produced some of the most awesome soldiers, shooters and hunters the world has ever known. DAMN!

Sorry, I didn't mean to get political.

I think Holland and Holland should be added to that list,,and a couple unmentioned. Those sharp shooters will be ok if they're toting a Dennis Quackenbush .50 outlaw. Yes britan has some crappy gun laws, and, thats probably a major understatement,,anyhoos,,The people who really want to shoot,,ANYTHING,,have made the best of what they can have,,You look at some of thier air rifle websites,Thier wives are posing with supressed hp air rifles and bagged rabbit ,they have rabbits laid out like a georgia crow hunt,,or a mexican dove hunt,,That gives me an idea,,we should inform mexico that they can only shoot dove on the 3rd wendsday of every odd numbered month and only on even numbered years the second year after a leap year,,tell them if they don't comply were gonna shoot every crow, blue jay,,and any other related spieces out of the sky every day of the year and twice on sunday.By golly,,sorry guy's,,I should have put this in the political forum,,But that thing is looney tunes,,and all of my friends are right here!!! beerSoooooooo,to the self proclaimed forum director,of where things should be,tough titties,,Claybuster www.allsmallgame.com
