I know it! I just bought a Dragunov in that caliber. It's pretty close to a 7.62 NATO / .308 Winchester. It really has no following at all in the Americas. but I'd think there would be some popularity in SW Asia and the former Russian states.
5.56mm NATO, 7.62 x 39 Russian, 7.62 NATO, 7.62 x 54 R (rimmed)

You think THAT was impressive...

(Image moved to photography section)

I have to credit the camera 100% it's a Minolta Z6, only 6 MPixles, but it's got a super-macro function that let's me put the lens ON the case. I'm always impressed, and it's a year old or so and I't's $278 at Amazon.com amazon.com

I'm not sure... BUT,
it only took me 20 minutes from the time you posted until I had finished product and there was no associated processing expense. IIRC, the big 5 are all getting away from film for consumer use. I'd think that film equipment that would take a comparable picture would cost $5K, and require processing.

I clap digital

Dang it I did it again hijack

I'll continue in the Photography forum... My apologies.

The hell it don't. I love my 7.62X54r. I believe the following is in people like myself who are into military surplus guns. I have a M38 M/N. Speaking of nagants, vahid_vp, that is one sweet looking nagant, never seen a nagant with a thumbhole stock before.

No, I wish! Before I do anything outside of Canada I'd like a PG hunt in Africa somewhere.
I'm impressed with your results though, good job!!

Hello Markhor

You have a very nice trophy room. Was the crocodile shot in Pakistan or Africa.

The Ibex is looking very good. I will be hunting in KVO this year, and if I am lucky will get a full body mount made.

Is the Sindh game department giving Sindh Ibex permits this year for Pakistanis.

Regards
Aziz

Hello Markhor

The following are your hunt photos. They will display as long as you leave then in your photobucket account.

The trophy room photos were deleted by you from your photobucket page,so they can no longer be seen. If you post them again I will put them up.

You have an excellent Sindh Ibex. Was the Marco Polo a pick up or did you hunt it in the Wakhan Corridor.

Regards
Aziz

My favorite caliber is the .280 Remington. It is good for most all North American game with the exception of Brown Bears; all of Africa's plains game and Leopard. I have found it to be very accurate and the recoil is easy on the shoulder. Would make an excellent Sheep cartridge. Good hunting!
