May I see some pics of how you display your PG hides?

Are their different methods in the tanning process that will preserve them better than others?

I'm contemplating on bringing back a couple of hides to display on my walls, etc.???

Thank you! Wink

Squeeze;

There are a variety of tanning methods and as equally important the shaving of the hide to bring it to an evenly thinned product. A tan with good stretch is IMO best and can be used for pillows, upholstery, rugs etc. However many times soft well tanned hides do not lay flat or hang flat without having been wetted and stretched and often backed with a felt laminate. Cheaper tans will be stiff, uneven and really poor ones will curl, wrinkle etc. I'll try to dig up some photos to post later.

Best Regards

I find that the back skins add an "aura" of Africa and look good as a side display to another mount.

I definately wanted to bring back some backskins from my first trip, to accent the various areas of my trophy rooms. A couple on the floor with euro skulls,

some draped tastefully over the arm of a sofa or chair, and the kudu backskin around the base of a kudu pedestal mount. Wildebeest rug to step out of bed onto. Smiler

They can be done as wall decor also, as evidenced by this wildebeest rug, or the springbok round.

Added expense, definate yes. Worth every penny, you bet!

Blank, those rounds are the only way to fly! I wound up with a stack of back skins that do nothing for our decor. Won't do that again. Nice display of your trophies. David

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
