Thought it would be fun to chronicle the progress of my remodel job, and maybe some of you pros might stop me from a serious error if you see one.

West wall, both windows going away

East wall, window and one door going away, as well as window on south wall visible through shutters

North wall being bumped out to increase storage area

WOW ALOT of opportunities in that room!!!

I would save the closets and do a small built in gunroom, typical english colonial style. What kind of style do you want in your room ?

I am saving the closets, but making it one big closet. That wall is being moved about four feet out. We were trying to save the faux beams in the ceiling, but the wood was too dry and split.
This room is a 1950's addition to a 100+ yr old house, so the style will be fairly traditional. I have saved the 2"x12" moulding from around the ceiling, and may put it back if I don't go with crown moulding.
Thank you for your input, and please add more as this progresses.

Mike

End of week one, making good progress. Windows and door framed in, some plywood up, and beginning to frame in the storage closet at north end.

Three weeks into the remodel, and the walls and ceiling are painted. Some of the trim is up, but the 2x12 used as crown in the old room has to be sanded and re-stained because the places where the faux beams were are unfinished.

Getting close to bringing animals and furniture back in!

Five weeks in and almost finished! Most animals are in, still need to get the led bulbs for the track lighting.

Sliding shelves on west side:

Wire shelves on east side:

Nothing compared to some in here, but I'm quite happy with the results. I'll post again when everything is finished.

Are those ceilings 8' or taller?

Ceilings are 9'3", and because of the way the roof was framed it would have been too expensive to raise them.

Thanks! The hyena is definitely one of my favorites. I'm going to put it under the tv when all is finished.

Last post. All done except a few minor items on punch list.
Photos aren't very good, but I guess that's what you get with a cell phone camera.

Very nice hyena, Frostbit. Yours is a more mature animal, and even nastier looking! Great mount too. I need to get some faux grass to add to my hyena stand.
I enjoyed the hyena hunting very much, with almost two full days of sitting in a blind before I got mine.
