Hi guys, I am heading off to Mongolia at the end of Feburary for a Ibex hunt, if i am lucky enough to get a nice trophy, how should I get it mounted? Full mount, shoulder, pedestal? Any pics please post them. Cheers, Duggaboybuff.

that decision is yours alone. depends on the room you have and the looks of the animal. I took to doing lots of life size mounts long ago, because i find there is so much more beauty to the animal as a whole then just the head. however I've run out of room to put anything and i really don't know where i'm going with the last 2 safaris, leave alone the next 2

I would say that if you have the room and can afford to do it, do a life-size mount. I would have to agree with butchloc, ibex are beautiful animals and they look so much better as a full-body mounts. If you do choose to go the shoulder mount option, might I suggest doing a pedestal mount? IMHO, the pedestal is much more suiting than the wall. Ibex just look odd to me hanging on the wall (I think it has something to do with the large sweeping horns). Have a great hunt! ____________________________ If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ... 2018 Zimbabwe - Tuskless w/ Nengasha Safaris 2011 Mozambique - Buffalo w/ Mashambanzou Safaris

I think these are pretty cool: http://www.naturesdesigntaxidermy.com/AsianPM0001.htm "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark

I'm not usually one to post negative replies, but I think those heads, which I believe to be one of the Spanish ibex subspecies look horrible, not at all lifelike or natural looking. I certainly would not be very happy wo ge thtose back from a my taxidermist after having spent big buck on the hunt and the work... Sorry.

That is OK Express. I remember seeing two Ibex mounted in a similar fashion while in their shop, but I know for a fact that those two were from Mongolia. They were magnificent. If these are the same, which I now think they aren't, the photo is poor. Their eyes look very dead. "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark

Mate I shot agood Ibex in Tuva(russia) a few years ago and I full mounted it on a Mackennzie form which is walking up hill.I had the taxidermist make the smallest of rock ledges so i could hang it on the wall as if its walking up it. I a sorry i have no picture but I will get myself sorted out and post it for you I hope you like it

Mounting is up to you , But don't waste a good trophy and a good hunt experince if you have the room for a full body mount. Some of my friends regret that they didnt do a full body mount.

I really only like wall pedistals. I would have done a half lifesize or a shoulder mount.f Work is nice and you shot some nice goats.

IMHO I tell all clients to go lifesize( with lots of action--running/fighting/etc.. on a very narrow rock ledge.) or floor pedestals with octagon hardwood base with the mount at eye level. You put in alot of funds and time so you should be as proud of them as you can plus they are very nice looking critters.
