I got my Alaska moose back from the taxidermist a couple of days ago, and decided to hang him on my fireplace in place of the eland I had there. There were a couple of reasons for the change: 1. I live in a Western style house and I just thought an American animal would fit better than an African one. 2. The moose was too damned big to fit down the stairway to my trophy room!

Here we are moving the eland:

Up goes the moose:

Moose are such an awesome animal, but man do they take up a lot of room.

Is there a thread showing your trophy room elsewhere?

No, I just haven't taken the time to take pictures. I will this winter though.

L - Great looking Moose and it fits perfectly over your equally good looking fireplace. That's the one you got in Alaska on the trip I visited with you about, right? Congrats again. Which guy are you in the pics? The younger looking one of course, huh?? Wink

I get detachable antlers on elk, moose, caribou and kudu, but not matter how you slice it, putting up a moose is a big job. Mine is above the fireplace in my TR.

Looks Great, I have my moose mounted on the same forum. So much better then those short neck mount forums. But it is a huge forum. Until I build my trophy room mine hangs in my garage. I couldn't wait to mount it.Congrat's

The moose is in his rightful spot.

Of all the beasts, he belongs over the roaring fire.

Congrats, and it looks amazing!

One more note on hanging the moose: The eland was on a 7" long 3/8"dia lag bolt; when we put the moose on it, we could feel the lag bolt flexing. We ended up hanging him on a 10" long 1/2"dia lag bolt.
