I got my Alaska moose back from the taxidermist a couple of days ago, and decided to hang him on my fireplace in place of the eland I had there. There were a couple of reasons for the change: 1. I live in a Western style house and I just thought an American animal would fit better than an African one. 2. The moose was too damned big to fit down the stairway to my trophy room! I get detachable antlers on elk, moose, caribou and kudu, but not matter how you slice it, putting up a moose is a big job. Mine is above the fireplace in my TR. | |||

One more note on hanging the moose: The eland was on a 7" long 3/8"dia lag bolt; when we put the moose on it, we could feel the lag bolt flexing.
