I hate to be the one to tell you this, but putting them in the garage is one of the worst places that you could choose! I live in Texas and know how hot it gets in the garage during the summer. The heat will destroy your mounts over time.

Also, most garages are not sealed very well. That invites dermestid beetles to come and dine on your mounts. They can destroy the mount quicker than the heat!

When I had a taxidermy shop years ago, I had a client come in who had killed a truly magnificent whitetail deer in Iowa and was going to get it plaque mounted because his wife didn't want to spend the $$ on it and wouldn't let it go in the house.

I told him that he could find a wife in any bar in town but that whitetail deer was a once in a lifetime trophy! He thought for a minute and said to shoulder mount it!! When he later picked it up he didn't say anything about his marriage situation and I was afraid to ask!

Good luck!

Great trophies but you need to get them out of the garage and into the house.

I simply don't understand why ANYONE would marry a woman or a man (if she is the hunter) who wouldn't tolerate a trophy room. I hate stuff in the living room myself, but I am buidling a house with 30x30 tropy room. Which reminds of a story MS AzWriter told me on Friday when she picked me up.

"The architect said, 'How about a 63 foot pool?'" she said, "To which I replied, 'How about 75?'" (She likes swimming, triathalons, etc.)

I said, "That is going to cost a lot."

She said nothing, so I egged her on and said, "Why didn't you point out some hunting trips cost as much as that pool?"

She looked at me and said, "What does your hunting have to do with anything?"

She not only doesn't care about taxidermy, she even goes to the shop to pick the stuff up when it is done.

Remember . . . no matter how gorgeous the woman . . . somebody somewhere is tired of her sh*t!

Besides, at my age . . . I'd rather have the mounted trophies in the house!!!

I'm gonna be optimistic here and say that these are probably the animals that are "extra" and for whatever reasons just don't "fit" the decor of GORGEOUS trophy rooms inside the home. Tell me I'm right Stuntpilot!

This is good to hear Stuntpilot! First of all, I had a hard time believing that a man with such taste in cars was going to limit himself to plains game. The pure adrenaline of driving fast is not matched by the adrenaline of shooting Kudu. Ergo, the Elephant, buff etc. must be inside the house. Second, men generally don't get to the point of affording a 550 by being whimps. I don't care how demanding those here suspected your wife to be, I suspected that you were well versed in the "art of the deal" for lack of a better phrase and able to negotiate a good number of the trophies into the house. Big Grin

Best,

JohnTheGreek

p.s. Can we see photos of the inside now or are you just going to keep teasing us with the garage?

I was thinking that was a return air duct as well, but it looks like a string coming off it.I then figured it was an attic stairway. It really cracks me up how many hunters did not pick up on the gunsafe, bookcase, reloading bench and carpeting.Stuntpilot2 appears to have a pretty good life.I'm willing to bet he really does not gives a rats ass to others comments about his wife.

VEERRRYYY doubtful. I am desperately awaiting photos but I will stand by my prediction that drivers of 550's are not going to limit the scope of a hunting addiction to Elk, Barbary Sheep, and Plains game. Not that there's anything wrong with hunting these critters of course! Big Grin

It is obviously a garage as you can see the tracks for the garage door on one of the photographs.

A Kiwi person I know has all his trophies in his garage as well, including a full mounted lion with a very nice mane.

I think Stuntpilot is banished to the garage as well, often. Big Grin

How come that the trophies in picture #1 are not the same as the trophies in picture #2 (except for the elk), when otherwise the reloading bench, bookcase (and books in it), Ferrari parking sign and cupboard seem to be the same?? Was #1 taken with the trophies from the year before last, and #2 with last year's??

Anyway, I'm suitably impressed with stunt's garage. Not only because of the cars and nice trophies, but the order in that garage is something to behold!

The other thing these pictures suggest is that the Ferraris are more important to Stuntpilot than hunting.

This thread was interesting enough to get a lurker to register! I think I probably know who Stuntpilot is. He lives ~800 yards from Michael Dell. There are definitely additional animals/automobiles/display areas to be posted....

AZ,
To the contrary. I think this is probably the best hunting & reloading site on the internet. I've followed it for quite some time. Saeed deserves tremendous credit. I'm deeply appreciative of his generosity. I also think you'll find the site has a very broad following of unregistered fans. Everyone has their reason for not registering or posting...Privacy, shyness..And some just don't want to be bothered with "least common denominator" responses to their posts.

Regardless of the reason, the placeing of mounted trophies in a damn Texas garage is a sin, even a garage full of Farraris! I have a neighbor who has a very large whitetail mount in his garage. I saw it when he was working in his garage one day, and I asked why he had it there. His reply was his wife didn't want it in the house. I smiled, and said, she needs to live in another house, where you, and your whitetail don't live! Wink

I'm married to my second wife, for 45 yrs. My first wife didn't like my hunting, or mounts in my house. beer

I owned the house before I married her, but when my first wife and I got a divorce, she kept the house, and I moved, along with my mounts, and guns to my lake house! Big Grin

That Farrari garage in this string is most likely climate controled, from the looks of it, so the mounts will probably be fine there! Confused

Popgun,
The pictures were taken aprox. one month apart. The second shortly after a recent shipment of shoulder mounts from a previous season displaced ones in other places. Heading over for another safari next week, and would expect ~18 months from now the picture scenery will change similarly....

To your last question: Can't speak to your olfactory glands....
