Shooters was the first forums I visited years ago, and I participated there for quite a while - mainly on the Africa forum.
It is very sad to see it stop operating - as far as I am concerned, the more hunting and shooting forums we have on the net the better.
For those who saw our videos of the boys here shooting the 577 T.Rex, we used cast bullets for a while, until we got our own CNC lathe and started making brass bullets.
And for the new members who have not seen any of these videos, here is a link to that page, I am sure you will get a laugh out of these.
Checking in. I've been out of shooters since Tuesday am. There are a couple of poster at Yahoo also but it's looks like the majority are here. ohshooter

Saeed, glad we are welcome here to say the least! Is it possible to install a chronological (pointer) thread showing up at the top of the section, i.e., cast bullets? That will solve the problem we "Shooters" have with your site.

Another deadbeat survivor from 'Shooters' limps into camp... There I was 'Hindsight', here and on most of the rest of the net, I am 'scrounger'; like that a lot better. Happy to see the other survivors. Anyone hear from Beagle, Jumptrap, Sundog, or the old cat killer himself, Carpetman?

He called me at 4.00 am from the airport. He just arrived back from Spain.
I asked him why he called me at such an holy hour, and this is what he said:
"Tomorrow you will have to call me at this time to wake me up. So I can make it to the airport to go hunting. If you make it before the plane takes off, I might let you join me."
He never learns! I have his air ticket, and when I get to the airport tomorrow, I will pretent to have forgotten it at home.
I have no doubt that you will be able to return Walters kindness of waking you at such an early hour
We leave for a week long moose hunt next week, hopefully we'll be able to get one this year. If not, just the time in the woods will be greatly appreciated.

Another note to those that are new. Saeed has both a fine photographer, and videographer along with him on the hunt. In addition to graciously providing this forum, he has also provided copies of the pictures and videos for others to view. I believe he still offers a CD of pictures for each 250 or 500 posts made by a member, so you can get a copy of the pictures from the hunt.
Check out the Africa forum for updates, as he will be brining a sat phone with laptop, so if it works, we'll see some photos and get some reports.

Am thankful i found where most of ya went, the shooters cast board was most informative and civil place experienced. Don't mind me lurking, have quite a bit to learn. Unfortunately handle is already in use.
Glad I found you guys. Been unable to log on to Shooters for three days. Went to the Castpics emergency room hoping to find out what happened. Been cruising different boards looking for a topic heading with info about Shooters. Hope the whole cast of characters find this place. Wouldn't be the same without Beagle, Bruce B, Carpetman, 458 Lott, Felix, Buckshot and the rest. Gonna take me a while to learn how to navigate this board. Once again, glad I found my way back to camp.------RonF

Has anybody heard from Waksupi? I hadn't seen any posts from him for a while before shooters went down. I know he was talking about the fires around him, hope he didn't get caught up in one. ohshooter

It's been almost a week, looks like Shooters is gone for good. Thanks, Saeed, for having us. Hope we can maintain the quality(?) we enjoyed over there! There's still lots I look forward to learning from you guys. Hey, Felix, how 'bout posting this site on the Castpics emergency room? went there several times looking for help. Bug (AKA..Ronn)

It does seem that the clan is gathering in pretty good fashion. I hope and trust that the word will spread as time progresses.
Haven't seen duke, Curmudgeon, or Deputy Al here yet, but I know that Curmudgeon has posted here in the past. My e-mail is horrendously unreliable, but I tried sending a msg to Curmudgeon, which the 'puter SAYS was sent...but I dunno for sure.
I'll try some other addresses that I have, or maybe even telephone those whose numbers I know. What we had going on Shooters was too good to let die.
Even if lostcajun's archive file does lack the last few months of the Shooters Board, it is still an invaluable reference tool. I found myself back in the Archives MANY times over the years that I hung out on that Board. On top of the information they contained, it was entertaining reading as well. I have to get the info onto a CD.

Tpr. Bret here. Got a new 'purt after the old Gateway got a bad case of the sniffles. Finally got the new Dell, (what happened to the little blonde cutie? They replaced here with a dark haired brainy chick?), hooked up and lo and behold, I can't get Shooters! Took down firewalls, tweaked this and that, figured Dell was anti-cast bullet and had some sort of unseen program in this thing to make me miserable. When the 'puter at work wouldn't connect too, well I figured something was up. Trained observer don'tcha know. Glad to see most of the gang here. Didn't somebody have some CD's with the Shooters archives for sale? Buckshot/Bren- Lets get Tuesday at the range going. I'm like an old lady missing her soap opera without it. Hope this turns out to be the same type of forum we had at Shooters. Polite, tolerant, and absolutely necessary.

.......BruceB, I let Deputy Al know off my laptop here at work. My stupid PC at home has decided AGAIN :-( it doesn't want to recognize my password I've had like forever. It's done it before. Were computers supposed to make life simpler :-)? I didn't have any other's address on the flatbox so couldn't send.
This place to starting to feel kind of familiar. Thanks Saeed! I sent the URL to Waksupi and TonyB, hopefully they'll be along soon. Where's that pesky carpetman at? BD

It strikes me that we could still have one central place (here) where we (the gang from Shooters) all post. One, we could ask Saeed for a separate forum here. or, barring that, we could start a thread, like this one, and just keep adding to it every day. At the same time, we could participate in the other threads and the other players here would be welcome in our little group. I think almost everyone is here now, I've seen posts by Carpetman and Waksupi on other threads.
Well, I was settin up my camp over at Baitshopboys when Deputy Al was gracious enough to steer me in this direction. Sure am glad to find you guys...it's my nightly fix after work to peruse your posts. I finally fixed the "wrinkles and voids" in my lee 8mm mould and it now works great...Gary D.

Looks like another Shooters refugee made it. Man did I miss you guys! Went on a fishing trip for a couple of weeks and BAM! There she was...gone. Gonna' miss Shooters. Had to tweak my handle a little. Somebody already had X-man, so I had to add asteriks.
For anyone looking for Waksupi, I think I saw him posting over at Greybeards. I'm sure he'll be along shortly.
I'm sure it won't be long and he'll have another postal match on the go.
Good morning all, I pray that there's room for another Shooters refugee to shoulder his way into the room. It's getting pretty full. I clicked on Shooter's 'til I gave up. I'm suprised that I didn't get a message screen saying GO AWAY---THEY DON'T LIVE HERE NO MORE!! Thanks Saeed for the kind reception. Randall in Houston
Hello all of you galenaholics. Curmudgeon and myself just got back from a two-week trip to Montana and discovered last night that shooter's is no longer. Thank you Felix for the heads up on where to find the old gang, I used the link that you sent and it took me right here. I have nothing to report concerning cast boolits as the last two weeks were spent tying and then losing flys in various Montana streams and rivers. The .44 special was always at hand when camping, and loaded with the Keith 245 gr. SWC over a case full of W296. Bill and I tried several times to get in touch with Waksupi when we were near his home, but only got his answering machine. We went right through the town of Somers on Flathead Lake. Lots of smoke there from the fires, but still a beautiful place. Curmudgeon just left for his home in the PRK, and will no doubt be signing in tonight.
CARAMBA! Duke and I turn our backs for a couple of weeks and find our happy CB home closed. It will be a little tough getting used to so many new aliases, but once upon a time BruceB, Deputy Al, Buckshot, Maven, et al were strangers. Thanks Shooters for the last 4 1/2 years, through them I was privileged to reconnect with Duke, a friend from school days in the early bronze age, and make many new friends. I've been using this site since Shooters went on the shaky list and found it to be a very congenial place. Great big thanks to Saeed for providing us a refuge. Looking forward to talking REAL bullets with friends old and new. Regards, curmudgeon (Yes, I have my original lower case handle back on this site.)

I am glad Felix sent an emailwith the information for this forum. I don't post much but lurk a lot. Thanks to Felix and to the new board for having us. VFRBULL (Vern)
vfrbull: I see you are from Marquette.MI. Do you happen to know Rudi Prusok, ex-Editor and current Archivist for the ASSRA (Am. Single-Shot Rifle Ass'n.)? The Archives are a great repository of literature (books, magazines, catalogs and "ephemera") on ALL aspects of firearms and their history. A lot of my stuff has already gone to Rudi, and the rest is to be bequeathed to the ASSRA. The NRA has nothing to touch this collection. Look Rudi up if you are interested; casyt bullets are mandatory in most AsSRA competition. My paternsal ancestors came from Houghton, just "around the corner" from you.
I was a lurker at shooters.com too and miss the information that I got there. It was a good site and very interesting. I have been shooting and reloading and casting for 30 yrs. and have always learn something new with each visit. I hope that this forum is just as good.
