To all,

Hi and this is my first post here. I have done a search looking for 405g Cast repieces for the 45-70 and came up a bit lean (maybe I am using the search wrong).

This will be for my 1895GS. I currently have a loading I like, but would like to see what others have come up with and use. Mine is ....

Rem 45-70 Brass at 2.100
38g IMR-4198
CCI 250 primer
405g Cast at .459 sized

I am getting 1.75 at 100yrds for five shots using a scope and recoil is moderate.

I mostly interested in 400/405g loads from subsonic to apx 1800fps range.

Pick, There are lots of loads for the velocity range you mentioned in the Lyman "Cast Bullet Handbook, 3rd. Ed." Even though it's dated, the info. contained is solid. Another powder (too recent to have been mentioned in the 3rd. Ed.) is Accurate Arms' XMP 5744. Also, black powder (3F or Pyro. P) with a 400-467gr. CB will -> ~1,300fps from my Marlin #336 @ 2 m.o.a. ...Maven
