Any body know what the meplat is on RCBS's 405 grain .458 bullet?
How about the meplat of Lyman's 405 grain or 400 grain --.458 bullet?

Thanks in advance!!

David,
I have the RCBS 405 gr gascheck bullet. As close as I can measure the meplat is .316 on this particular bullet.

I don't have a caliper handy, but having had both the Lyman 457193 and the RCBS 45-405-FN I can say the RCBS has a larger meplat.

The RCBS bullet is great!!!! I believe it to be the absolute best 45-70 cast bullet out there that is readily available. It feeds perfectly in lever actions and can be quite accurate.

My Marlin 1895 Cowboy has turned in 1" groups for 3 shots at 100 yds on a number of occasions. My favorite powder with this bullet is H-4198.

Good Luck,
Mark
