Question:
Members,

What is the weight?

Opinions welcome.

Roland

Cool 237 Pound and I did not keep the meat, talking about a bad smelling boar. The strange thing about this pig, he was very big, and lifting him in the truck, I thought he was at least 350 Pound (probably a balloon pig)
Last year I shot one 315 pound he give me the impression of being smaller and less heavy than this one.

Good luck and good hunting, thumb
Roland

Choices:
150 Pounds up
200 Pounds up
250 Pounds up
300 Pounds up
350 Pounds up

I guessed 150lbs but it is just a guess. The problem is perspective. The fella in the pic looks like a big dude, 6' 2"+ and over 250lbs. He is looking forward at the pig. Can't tell if it is 2 ft from him of 8 ft from him. But assuming the table to the left of the pic is a normal 36 in high, the pig is fairly small. If 100lbs would have been a choise I may have selected it.

Perspective is always a problem with photographs. That said, he looks like a pretty heavy hog to me. His construction is pretty thick. I say he's over 250, but that's just a guess........

Hey Roland,

Thanks thats what I thought, the problem with "on the hoof weight" is that they vary greatly. It would help if you had a pic of the whole pig showing also. I dont think im too far off though.

Aloha!!!

Length of head, diameter of front legs--pretty substantial, but hogs are the only animals I've seen that experience ground growth (vs ground shrinkage common to antlered game). I'll stick with my original guess of 250 or so. Largest pig we've shot on our S. Tx ranch weighed 262 on our scales, and looks about the same as this one.

What about this specimen?

I sure thought more, my vote was in the 250-300 lb catagory. No wonder folks are always claiming outsized hogs when they don't have a scale.

Lots of tales from giant hogs, most of the time on the scale the hog and tale gets smaller.

Success and good hunting. thumb
