I have shot two hogs with my .358 using the nosler 225 Ballistic Tip @ 2300 fps. It did a great job.

Seved,

If they are on the otherside of a bush and you are shooting BallisticTips out of it, dont try it! lol

I know a shot not taken is always a miss but a ballistic tip touching a twig = bullet fragments hitting the hog in the worst way.

I wouldn't even bring this up had this not happened to me

Nosler Partitions seem to work pretty well......

The 338 and up Ballistic Tips are much tougher bullets than the smaller calibers. They have a heavily reinforced shank and can take a beating but they still open up fast because of the thin jacket at the forward section. I've been using 338 200 grain BTs at almost 2900 fps for 18 years now with no failures or trouble of any kind. Probably taken between 150 and 175 hogs of all sizes up to 319 lbs during that period in brushy Texas Hill Country terrain. That said, I wouldn't feel as confident about 270/7mm/6mm versions.

I think the same jacket profile was maintained for the Accubonds.

The Barnes 140TSX in the 7mm08 will rip right through a hog easily.

The .358 is ideal for tough game such as wild hogs that are usually taken at close to moderate ranges.

both of the pigs I shot with the 225 BT dropped in their tracks, through and through. They do not make the BT anymore but it is an accubond which should be even better

Seved,
That is a nice looking skinner. Yes we have a knife section. Go to the forum home page and scroll down.
I do not make knives but have spent many hours with Steve over the years. We first met on a power plant project in 1974. I have one of his first knives from 1980 before he got into damascus.
