Deer season is closed and pig season is upon me! Yay!!!

Shooting the alpha sow gives you your best chance of making it a double or better. Of course, you'll know what you should have done right after you pull the trigger.

That is such an easy question; Use a Double Rifle; shoot them both.

Rules for pigs under lights:
1.Shoot the first thing that comes in.
2.Shoot the biggest one.
3.Shoot the most you get lined up.
4.Shoot the wet sow if you can pick.

Old lights getting too dim to see 'em from 125 yds away so new lights up this afternoon. Will check cam tomorrow to see if the new lighting will take a few days to get used to, but if they are there tonight, I'll be there tomorrow evening. My hunting buddy is asking for pork for sausage--I think the sow is the #1 candidate.

125 yards! I was thinking more like 20 yards from a tree or blind.

Winds are wrong for that--but Thurs and Fri forecast looks good for either the 12-ga or the bow.

I am thinking the little ones taste the best.

Shoot any of them that happen to line up so you can shoot thru one and get another with the pass thru.

Generally if the lights are on before the pigs show up they aren't bothered by them. We light it up like a parking lot and the pigs don't notice. The only time they are bothered is if you try to turn the lights on after they are at the feeder. Good luck!

pig feeder--it was quite a bit brighter than then night before--but whether it was the lights or something else, no matter, as they were back last night and I'll be "on-site" tonight and ready.

If shooting to eat a nice 100 pounder or so.

That's my practice--shoot the sows first--but all that was in the trap was the 4 shoats.

I shoot the young ones, the eat so much better..I save the big bores for my hunters, and we shoot the sows year around or trap them.

When I was on the S. Tx lease and took hog hunters there, I told them they could shoot anything that oinked so long as they shot a sow first.

Well, it was a perfect night--pigs showed on schedule and a 127-lb boar caught a 55-gr ballistic tip and was DRT. I think it was the hairy boar from my first pic up top.
