Went to my deer lease this weekend with the idea of harvesting some doves. Gotta love those bacon wrapped, jalepeno stuffed dove breasts. Marinade quickly in some Teriyaki sauce. Season with Tony Chacheries, pepper and garlic powder, slice a piece of jalepeno, wrap with bacon and grill over hot mesquite coals. Good enough to make you want to slap yo' daddy down.
Well that was my intentions.

However, mother nature had different ideas. Two weeks ago we were covered up in both mourning doves and white wings. Saw six this whole weekend.
Friday night it came a flash flood and rained for about three hours. Overcast and sprinkling all day Saturday. Weatherman predicted 30% chance of rain.

Went out and sat Saturday evening hoping to pop a big pig. No big un's came in but I had five football size shoats come to the feeder.
I have taken to taking my foxpro fx3 to the stand with me as I call in fox, coyotes, turkey etc. I was equipped this evening with a 300 win mag and a tac-20.
Since little pigs came in I decided to pop one with the Cooper Tac 20. This little rifle shoots a 40 grain pill at approx 3850 fps.
Here is the results of a 40 gr. v-max at 130 yds.

That little guy had sensitive ears and did not like loud noises. So when he heard the blast of the Cooper, he just lost his mind... Big Grin

Man, those are the size we dress out, toss in a bucket of marinade for a couple of hours then sprawl out over some medium glowing coals for an hour or so.

MMM MMM good.

My favorite shot placement for anything that is just meat. Does get the same treatment. Haven't had to track one over two miles yet. Wink
