Anyone have a recommendation for a short notice hog hunt in the next few weeks? I'm not necessarily looking for a trophy hunt, just some place with decent hunting.

If the panhandle of Florida isn't too far (near Talahasee), give Florida Slam Outfitters a call at 850/843-4211 and talk to Pete. Their website is www.floridaslamoutfitters.com I've hunted there twice.

Just access Craigslist. Go to Texas then to San Antonio. There are a bunch of hog hunts listed. And please bring cases of bullets and shoot a bunch of them.

How about unlimited hogs and an axis doe for the freezer for $400 including lodging, skinning, and quartering in three weeks? You will be able to hunt the hogs at night too. Here is a link to the hunt info:

Link-click here.

Bob, that's a heck of a deal!

A guy can go crazy on an unlimited hog hunt in TX. I understand that axis is some really good meat as well. Better have those knives sharpened!

Jeff-PM answered!

This is a deal. We try to do one Axis doe hunt each year as a freezer filler. The ranch is just off I-10 between Junction and Kerrville, Texas. I told Jeff that I am finally breaking down and getting a new BBQ grill just for the Axis steaks. Bluefin, you are correct. IMHO, Axis is the best venison you can get on this side of the pond.

I know Martin McNutt and his family who own and operate McNutt Ranch where you do those hunts. In-fact, I just got my night vision scope back from Martin who had borrowed it to shoot some hogs out of the high fenced area. Beautiful piece of property!!
