A friend is going to the Sam Rayburn Lake area in East Texas to visit friends there and do some catfishing while he's at it. I said while he's there, he ought to do some pig hunting and now he's really into doing it. Does anyone know an outfit in that area that is reputable and does not charge an arm and a leg, but rather, a decent price for a pig hunt. Marty hunts with a pistol, by the way. Thanks for any help. I am not aware of any "hog outfitters", but there is alot of national forest land (Bannister WMA) around the lake. All that is required is a Type II permit that allows hunting access to the public land. | |||

I'll be in the panhandle next weekend after Rio Grande's but there are pigs all over the ranches I hunt. Last December one of my friends shot a 450 lb boar. It took four men to lift him into the truck bed. I'll ask about hog hunting on these ranches. I believe they only charge a nominal fee as they want them gone. But they tell me when someone kills one, 500 come to the funeral.
