Any of you pig fans ever watch that show? Looks like a hoot, and the Aimpoints or whatever they are using look really effective.

I do. You can buy the dvds through Safari Press. Impressive shooting. I have liked this season better than last. I liked last a good deal. They are using Aimpoints and I think Sauer rifles.

It does look interesting to try, but spot and stalk seems like much more fun to me. The shooting on that show is nothing short of amazing.

I've enjoyed enough to DVR it. As was mentioned this season had=s been better than last. There has been footage from the older videos on youtube for years. I think it was so different from what we are accustomed to seeing as outdoor programming that they used the first season to educate/condition us as to what we are watching. I haven't seen it in a while but there was one segment some years ago of one of the shooters, might have been Franz, killing five or six boar out of one group all falling in the "ride"....quite impressive.

Close call with a bear on this one. https://youtu.be/jd6GdEwalUM ------------------------------ A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Not being a pest control agent, I prefer to run them with hounds. Do not kill as many as with a trap, but it is good sport. NRA Life Benefactor Member, DRSS, DWWC, Whittington Center,Android Reloading Ballistics App at http://www.xplat.net/

I have done the driven hunt before in Germany, these served as my virtual training until I set foot on the drive hunt. The number of people involved is kind of mind blowing. We had about 20 beaters, 20 dog handlers and another 50-70 hunters.

Franz is a German prince, so he is fairly popular in European hunting circles. He had a meet and greet in the Hornady booth in February at Jagd and Hund in Dortmund. I was walking around and noticed they were giving away Hornady hats and got inline. Was shocked to see him standing there. He was shocked an American hunter would know who he is.

Is Franz the guy who is always on the show? Watched it last night and as Kyler said, the shooting is nothing short of amazing. With enough practice you can get good at long range, standing, sitting, etc. but I don't know how you would practice shooting running game - except just do it a lot.

I had forgotten that drive. I watched everyone of the shows I could. Four cubs would have been bad. But she was a huge bear to me. In front of me she would have seemed bigger. Be Well, Packy.

No doubt actually shooting live running boar is a great benefit. But you have to remember that Europeans tend to have running targets set up on some ranges. When I was in Sweden in the early 2000s I was told that running moose was a pretty popular shooting competition format over there. And they have the shooting cinemas where you can practice under somewhat realistic conditions too.

I have seen and enjoyed this series. They are practiced and precise shots. I am interested in the rifles they they use, calibers, how they are modified, etc. I have not seen this discussed on the show. I was a guest at Nokia's executive hunting/shooting lodge in Finland and among other things, they had a 'running boar' target field for practice at this type of shooting. I did not try it, but I did shoot clays there. AT

. Wild Boar Fever started a few years back, originally just short clips and vids and then it took off big time with AimPoint, Hornady and Frans-Albrecht zu Oettingen-Spielberg. Likely one of the best driven game shots in Europe. Some amazing shooting and amazing video footage coming out. Lots of opportunity to shoot driven game in Europe whether simulated (Shiesskino or range) or live in Germany, Hungary, Czech, Poland etc etc. I think Sauer is also backing the programmes and supplying guns. Lots of fun ! . "Up the ladders and down the snakes!"
