1115 -- how about telling us about the hunt. Great job, but we'd love to hear the details!

As is the case with many areas in the south, the property my family owns in southeast Georgia is has a large and unfortunately growing wild hog population. We try to take as many as we can each year to keep them under control. In mid January, a cold front moved through on a Friday night, and Saturday morning I decided to go hog hunting. I was hunting in large oak hammock that borders a marsh. There were several hogs feeding in the area and I began to stalk them to get close enough for a shot. I was leaning against an oak tree an heard brush cracking off to my right, and a boar walked out about 40 yards away. I shot him through the shoulder and he ran about ten yards and went down. I heard more brush breaking, and from behind me, down the edge of the swamp came another boar. I cocked the hammer on the left barrel of my Pedersoli Double 50 cal muzzle loader, and let fly at him at about 60 yards. He was shoulder shot also, and fell on the spot. I was using 444gr powerbelts, and 85 gr of Black Mag3 powder with Mag Spark 209 adapters on the rifle. It was a fun morning, and the meat went to help a family that had fallen on hard times and could really use it.

I sure like shooting pigs with a smokepole. A double though, now that's cool! I may have to try that...

Good shooting, and a couple nice piggies headed for the table.

I keep telling myself I need to take my .50 Cal CVA to the ranch and use it on the pigs-now I have a reason to do so. Our brush is so thick the pigs can't see you very well, and we've cut trails parallel to the roads, so when you spot one in the road, you can stalk along the parallel trail until you are in range, then ka-boom.

Wow, it's so nice to see a Kodiak double put to such perfect use. And you got a double blessing giving that meat to a family that needed it. Nicely done!
