Well, checked the cam at the feeder where I shot the bad-leg boar last week and no visitors since then---unusual. Was feeling good (bad) about having the numbers knocked back and then I reviewed the trap camera images---and here's the next chapter, which I will begin writing Thursday night. That's the first night the winds are right- And, my third place has a small sounder of 4--all mature ones that I will call upon tomorrow night. Well, started the next chapter early, at another place tonight. Got in my 15' tripod with rifle and scanner. Feeder spun on time, and about an hour later I think I hear pig noises coming down the creek from my left--had music streaming so I turned it off real fast and sure enough they were coming. Got the scanner on them and there was a sow and bunch of little ones and 3-4-5 adults too. Brush is so thick can't get a clear shot, but then one walks to the tripod and I take a shot straight down and off it goes--dang, did I miss? Noises all around and one comes up out of the creek to the tripod and I shoot again-straight down nearly, and this one doesn't drop either. Noises continue and I spy one climbing up the opposite creek bank and I pop her and she drops, rolling back into the creek. Looking through the thermal, I see 3 large hot spots in the creek bottom, so I'm thinking I have 3 down. Then I hear noises out under the feeder---but it is a "trash panda" or raccoon. Get things gathered up and climb down, go into the creek and there is only one pig. WTH? Apparently I missed completely or only slightly wounded the first two and they were laying up in the creek. But--no blood sign other than around the one dead sow. Here she is--about 80 lbs. Second pic is the entry wound, and last is the exit wound. .223 Hornady soft point at about 10 yds. Three sits in a week, 3 hogs down. An old pilot, not a bold pilot, aka "the pig murdering fool"

I thought of my toes later as you surely can’t see them in the dark like that. I will give ‘em a week and if they are back I am gonna put up lights so I can bowhunt this spot too. Lights are up and I am headed to the spot where the trap full of pigs is located-- In my seat looking at the trap and muddy tank with the wind in my face—- An old pilot, not a bold pilot, aka "the pig murdering fool"

I've never come close to shooting my toes so far. I did hit a knot on a dead tree with a very sharp axe and as it bounced off it sliced thru half the thickness of the leather on my tight cowboy boot right over the little toe. Just about enough to wet my panties! Another 1/16" of an inch. Too damned close! George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" Join the NRA today!" LM: NRA, DAV, George L.
