Looks like he did the curly shuffle a bit. That rifle is too pretty for me to hunt hogs with, Elk and antelope no problem.

Congrats! First blood is a great milestone, regardless of the big game.

A 300 pound,dog-chased-boar was the first blood for my Simpson .405 double also.

Well good for you Gdub. That's a fairly beefy barrel on your K3. What's the caliber? NEVERMIND that question. Just saw the other thread. Congratulations on the new Merkel k3 Extreme 270 Win! Gees, I leave for 5 days and miss all kinds of cool stuff. Fantastic wood! Darn nice work on that sounder you eliminated too.

Get dem hogs!

Custom bolt,
Your comment -Get dem hogs!

Reminds me of the origin of the name of a Louisiana based woodcock outfitter - SDW.

SDW = Shoot Dem Woodcock !

GWB got to be one of the luckiest guys on AR. Those rifles just aren't available anywhere, let alone one with super wood like that including EuroOptic. Backorder only. OK, I'm done drooling now. Well. Maybe not.

10/4,

As I mentioned elsewhere, when I first saw the "Extrem" it was lust at first sight. I would have preferred it to have been in a 7x57R but to my knowledge the only other one I could find was a 308 Win that had recently been sold. Steyr advertises the package on for +/- 46 Benjamins. I scored the rifle and mounts for $3.2K and change from EuroOptics.

Some of my buds say the 270 Win is "uber-gay" and that a 20" barrel makes it even more so, but I'm jazzed.

Best,

GWB

Ain't nuthin wrong with a 'vanilla'.270 Me too on the 7X57R. Looks well balanced with that barrel and I had not been a fan of fluted barrels in general until you posted this one.
Do any of your friends shoot one of those mcswirly jobs? barf

I'm not sure I follow your drift!

When I think of McSwirley's I think of a McMillian plastic stock. My buds all shoot straight factory rifles, and the only handloads they employ are what I load for them.

The only rifle I own with a McMillian Stock is this custom Remington Model 7 in the 6mm x 47 (6mm-222 Rem Mag)

However, if you're speaking of the Merkel half-stock, I do have the K1 chambered for 9.3 x 74r

and the K3 Jagd Stutzen

Wow what a beautiful collection of nice singles. I'm pretty much a lever kind of guy but I do love the grace and simplicity of the single shot. I do have one single shot a Ruger No. 1 in 7x57 and it is a shooter. No not in the Merkel class by any means, but fun enough in it's own right. Congratulations on your rifles and your pig.

Not necessarily a McMillan GWB. Painted plastic in general is what I think of when I think MCSwirly although I'm sure the Mc is for McMillan.

Does this blow away the smoke for ya? Hope so.
Awesome Merkel. But, I repeat myself.

Get 'em G, get 'em.

FWIW-
For those who like the composites, no problem.
