You could do worse. How does the rear mount work? It appears to be part of the turret assy.

there is no rear mount. the v8 was possibly the worst scope i ever owned. would stay sighted in for one shot only

my 60's Flaig 257, springfiend 1903a3+douglas barrel + diamond inlays, shoots LIGHTS OUT with even a tasco... it CAME with a v8, my wife bought it for me 20 something years ago, and I thought the barrel was rurnt -- looked like a 25 yard 000 20 ga pattern ... changed the scope, and all is forgiven ... opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I had one on a Sako 7mm Rem. Mag. loved it, it was accurate, consistent and robust.

The Weaver V8, mostly because of the rear mount is probably the worst disaster in scopedome! I tried it many years ago and its terrible...You better off with just a straight 8X or 10X Weaver in Weaver rings and bases..
