Hey guys, What are your opinions on using loc-tite for the torx screws? I have a set of Talley lightweight alloy mounts and I haven't had any problems with the scope moving yet, but because it is on my mountain (sheep) rifle I am thinking that the added reinforcement may be a good idea? | ||

I always use Loctite on base (or bottom) screws and never have on the ring screws. But a little blue (removeable) locktite might give you a little extra peace of mind so why not?............DJ ....Remember that this is all supposed to be for fun!.................. | |||

no loctite for me and my gunsmith will run you out of his shop if you suggest it.Been shooting and swaping scopes(many of them) for fifty years and have never had a scope base or ring shoot loose. Everything from from a 300 win. mag on down,now anything bigger may use something on the bases??? | |||

Not much to add to that wisdom. Properly installed bases/rings and properly torqued screws don't need Loctite. It just makes a mess and creates a problem when there's a need to change something out. | |||

It's important to realize that there are several different grades of loctite. The one to use on Scope bases and the like is the blue removeable stuff. Some of the other grades are stronger than gorilla snot and will definately take all the fun out of trying to ever remove anything you use it on!................DJ ....Remember that this is all supposed to be for fun!.................. | |||
