Blue vs matte scopes.

I have a custom 223AI with a heavy fluted stainless barrel mated to a gloss blue single shot receiver. The problem is I do not want to put a matte scope on a gloss blue receiver. I am looking at the lower end Bushnell but am not familiar with them.

Who else, if any, makes a good quality varmint scope in gloss blue?

Besides Leupold, Burris and Nikon make very good scopes with a gloss finish.

Scope finish is a matter of taste. I suspect that given another 10 years you might well find the pendulum swinging back from matte to gloss. I personally own many of both finishes and don't have a strong preference, but I am quite confident that the finish on my gloss scopes never "spooked" a game animal.

It appears that options like Leupold's gunmetal gray or some brands' camo finishes are doomed to the graveyard of "but it sounded like a good idea" along with TV screen-shaped ocular lenses. "Stainless" will hang around as long as there are stainless receivers and barrels.
