Got to second the Burris Sig rings. Inserts work something like a ball joint, so no force in the wrong direction can torque the scope tube. Yet grip the scope fine so it isn't bothered by recoil. The plastic inserts won't hurt the finish. No lapping needed. No shimming because you can get inserts to correct various scope alignment problems, again without putting stress on the scope tube. | |||

Lap rings or buy top quality machined rings (I like EAW). André DRSS --------- 3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact. 5 shots are a group. | |||

As mentioned above, the Burris Signature series is a great choice - due to its synthetic inserts.
