Zeiss shutting down optics in Germany 2026?

I just saw in a local forum that Zeiss are shutting down manufacturing of scopes and binoculars in Germany from 2026. repairs will continue.

Sorry to hear that, not that it makes much difference to me. It seems they like to make the big changes in years ending in six: abandoning reticle movement in 1976 and all scope-making at Hensoldt in 2006.

Well, sadly, I will not miss them.

We have all the major makes here, including Zeiss.

The least popular are Zeiss, mostly because they have been over taken by other manufacturers in Germany and Austria.

Funny enough, only binoculars that we had to return for service were Zeiss.
