I am going to mount a Leuplod VX-6 2-12X42mm , on a Browning A Bolt long action .270 Win. I am going to use Leupold Dual Dove Tail rings & bases. What ring height will I need?

I think mediums will be fine and in fact you may be able to use lows. I used medium PRW rings with my 2x12 on a medium weight barrel and they were too high. I switched to Mark 4 mediums which are still too high. If Leupold made a low 30MM Mark 4, I would use them. Your scope is a 42 MM objective which makes lower mounting possible.
