I have a Nikon Monarch Gold 2.5-10x50 on my .375H&H. Works just fine except the front of the scope is too large and close to the iron sight to use a Butler Creek lens cap.

The little 2 1/2 Leupold compact also works great so long as you remember not to clamp down too hard on the front ring as it sits over the objective lens. Even on the 416 it will hold just fine.

The 3x Leupold from the custom shop has a longer tube mounting length than their 2.5 and it has lots of reticle options . It is made for long action big bore rifles.

Take a look at the Nikon Monarch Gold African, 1-4x20. I did look it over at the shop the other day, and it looks like a good scope for the intended use. Constant 4" eye relief, and the great #4 reticle make this a good big game/DG scope.
I have the Monarch Gold 1,5-6x42 on my 375 Ruger and imho it is a great scope for the money.
I've a Leupold Euro-30 1.25-4x. The front ring sits just behind the front objective lense. Almost too close for comfort, but has held up fine on my CZ550 .375H&H for about 200 rounds.

I have a Leupold VX3 on my CZ 550 in the 505 Gibbs and it seems to be a good fit, however I am 5' -6" with a medium build so a person a bit taller with longer arms might get hit with the scope.
