fairgame21.5 inch Puku - photo added
Chaps,
Just took a serious Puku from the Kafue with one of Aaron's clients that measured 21.5 inches on one side and 21 on the other. Did not measure the bases but they were average and would be 5 to 6 inches each. Any idea where this Puku would come in the book. Can supply a more accurate set of measurements and photos in a couple of weeks time.

GraftonAs you know, the difference between 5 and 6 inch bases is significant. According to thse SCI website number ten for rifle is 54 4/8. Your measurements with 5 inch bases would give you 52 4/8, 6 inch bases would tie number 10 at 54 4/8.
Cheers.

L. David KeithAndrew, based on a measurement of 21.5 inches on the longest horn, that would tie the #2 Puku in Rowland Ward. I have the new edition. However, the base circumference on this animal is 7 3/4" with a tip to tip spread of 12 3/4". It was taken in 1993 from Kilombero, Tanz. The number one Puku's longest horn is 22 1/8". Congrats on an outstanding trophy. I would submit it to Rowland Ward. A minimum drying period of 30 days is required before official measurements by a registered scorer may be taken. Cheers, David

David,
And I should know this but is the width from tip to tip a factor in the measurement?
Thanks

L. David KeithAndrew, Rowland Ward uses method 7 for Puku, and although they take 3 measurements, it's the length of the longest horn that is scored. The other two measurements are incidental.Congratulations on a trophy of a lifetime!

L. David KeithThat would give it an unofficial score of 56, ranking it most likely in the top 10 SCI but could be in the top 5 w/Rowland Ward. Congrats Andrew!

bwanamrmImpressive trophies!

Quite right Mark and if I had the choice I would take that one as well. However just goes to show that the trophy quality is as good as it has always been.

I too would prefer the one held in Ben's left hand! But to get any trophy in top-ten of any record system - Wow! Well done!
